Weekend Roundup: 11/1 - 11/3

Fight off the post-Halloween blues and check out some of the cool craft beer events happening around the Greater Los Angeles area.

 

Beachwood Brewing and BBQ Movember

When: Starting Friday, November 1

What: The annual, international charity event where men grow "moustaches" for 30 days to raise awareness and money in order to change the face of men's health.

To participate - SHAVE on November 1st. Grow and maintain that fabulous mustache throughout the month of November as a symbol of your commitment to raising awareness for men's health issues such as prostate and testicular cancer.

Beachwood will close out Movember with a Mo Party fundraiser event on Tuesday, December 3rd at Long Beach where a portion of the proceeds will go to this important cause and a Mr. Movember will be crowned

Rules:

  1. EACH MO BRO MUST BEGIN THE 1ST OF MOVEMBER WITH A CLEAN SHAVEN FACE.
  2. FOR THE ENTIRE MONTH OF MOVEMBER EACH MO BRO MUST GROW AND GROOM A MOUSTACHE.
  3. THERE IS TO BE NO JOINING OF THE MO TO YOUR SIDEBURNS, THIS IS A BEARD.
  4. THERE IS TO BE NO JOINING OF THE HANDLEBARS TO YOUR CHIN, THIS IS CONSIDERED A GOATEE.
  5. A SMALL COMPLEMENTARY GROWTH UNDER THE BOTTOM LIP IS ALLOWED (AKA A TICKLER).
  6. EACH MO BRO MUST CONDUCT HIMSELF LIKE A TRUE GENTLEMAN.

Why you should participate: Growing a moustache rules. It is a perfect reason to not shave for a month and to raise awareness in the process. Plus, chicks dig dudes with a creepy stache.

How Much: Free! I fact, you might save some money on razors.

 

Ninkasi Tap Takeover Night

When: Friday, November 2.

What: BUZZ Wine and Beer Shop welcomes Ninkasi with a tap take over.

Where: BUZZ Wine and Beer Shop - 460 S Spring St  Los Angeles, CA 90013

Why you should go: Ninkasi is entering the LA Craft beer market, so go grab a taste of this Eugene, Oregon favorite before anyone else.

How Much: A 6 beer flight and a free pint glass for only $15. Sounds like a great way to start off the weekend.

 

Beer Fest for Beer Geeks

When: Sunday, November 3

What: Stout Burgers and Beers brings you’re their second Beer Fest for Beer Geeks. There were some really amazing beers at their first Beer Geeks Fest. Check out some of the beers for this one:

    • One Hit Warrant 6.5% - Honey wheat ale aged on cherries with a touch of wheat wine
    • Bourbon Barrel Drakonic 9.5% - Imperial Stout aged for 6 months in fresh bourbon barrels then blended with 15% regular Drakonic

"Learn to Home Brew" Day!

When: Saturday, November 2. 10AM-3PM

What: Not quite open yet Beach City Brewery is hosting an event on-site of their future location to celebrate this day and invite the community to come out and join in on the festivities.
Brew Commune, the local home brewers club in the Huntington Beach area to come with their equipment and everyone is invited to come and watch and Brew Commune will be available to answer any questions.
This event will allow the brewers to start brewing at different points in the day to show examples of the different stages involved in the brewing process. There will be different set ups to see, as no two brewers have the same equipment or exact processes.
